Dave Newton - Electronic Portfolio

Training is learning the rules; Experience is learning the exceptions

Thank you for taking the time to view my electronic portfolio. I've collected sample images of a few sites I've built over the past few years for your reference. While many of the sites below incorporate JavaScript and Flash to provide for animated graphics, these will not be active in the samples here.

NeoScribe was a business that I used to run from home. Focusing on web design and development, I was able to offer a wide range of low-cost design and hosting services to small companies and individuals. Salon Serein was a full service salon which prided itself on customer service, great products and a serene atmosphere. Utilizing a simple site design with mouseover buttons, these pages provided a basic web presence for the company with information on prices and services.
Belles & Beaus Bridal and Formal Wear was one of my largest and oldest sites. They offered a wide selection of wedding gowns, formal wear, tuxedos and accessories. Sections included thumbnails for each manufacturer that enlarged with a click of the mouse into a separate window, allowing visitors to view the items in a larger format. PPI was a reseller of quality coffee table books. The clients were typically real estate agents who wished to order several books at once and ship them to their different customers. It used a custom JavaScript engine to collect titles and ship-to data, calculated the totals including shipping, and passed everything to PPI using a formmail script.
Kid's Party Stuff offered a variety of inflatables for children, as well as offering a private party facility for birthdays and special events. There were rotating photos of the products and an image gallery featureing thumbnails of the party facility. Links provided rental forms for customers who wished to rent inflatables or reserve dates for a party. Back Porch Square was a small antique store and coffee house located in Acworth, Georgia. The owner wanted a simple site with mouseover buttons and images representing the interior of the store and the kits offered through their dealership.
American AgraCurtains sold insulated livestock curtains throughout the Midwest. The site included product information and diagrams, as well as a form to contact the company for specific product and pricing information. This was the older version of my personal site - with news, weather and information on SCUBA diving. The image of the dragon is one that I drew several years ago, scanned, manipulated in Photoshop, and optimized to speed load time.
